About Mira Road AG Church
Mira Road Assemblies of God Church is living demonstration of God’s mighty power and His work. The fulfillment of Lord’s promise of building His church and gates of Hades not overcoming it is clearly manifested through us. We lift our voices in gratitude and admiration towards the mighty ways He has led us through the course of time.
Mira Road AG church is affiliated to the Western District Counsel of Maharashtra (WDCM) of the South Indian Assemblies of God (SIAG). Here is the account of how Lord has raised it from a mere group of different individuals to a family of believers:
We started as a house prayer group under the leadership of Rev. Johnson T consisting of three – four members in the year ’95. With regular addition of new members, prayer was shifted to a hired classroom in Royal English School at Mira Road in 1997. In the subsequent year ‘98, with God’s grace, the first baptism ceremony was conducted wherein Lord added many lives to His church.
First Sunday morning service was held on January 30, 2000. The service was then shifted to a classroom reserved at St. Xavier School at Mira Road.
Almighty blessed us with an opportunity to buy a plot and construct a residential building for the church members with a Church hall on the top floor. The foundations were laid with prayers on September 23, 2003. The construction concluded and the hall was dedicated for service on July 10, 2005 under the leadership and presence of Late Rev. M Thomas.
Now we are 40 families strong and still growing with the mighty hand of God leading us. Simultaneously, we commenced outstation ministries at Penkarpada, Mira Road in the year 1999 and at Naigaon in the year 2000.
Ministry at Naigaon was firmly established in the year 2011 with many families accepting Lord Jesus as their personal savior.
Apart from the Sunday worship at the aforesaid locations, we conduct children programs on weekends. Special programs are held during Christmas where children perform and exhibit God given talent, screen Christian movies and conduct game shows. These are done with evangelism in mind so that everyone is aware of God’s unfailing love, redemption and life changing power.
About our Pastor: Rev. Johnson T
Rev. Johnson T is a full time minister for the Lord at Mira Road AG Church. In addition, He also holds office as a Treasurer of the WDCM of the SIAG.
He was born in the year 1969 at Ambalapuram, Kollam district, Kerala. He is the eldest son of Mr. Thankachan and Mrs. Marrykutty Thankanchan.
Post college, in submission to the Divine call, he enrolled in Faith Theological Seminary at Kerala for Bachelor of Theology studies in the year 1988 – 1992.
As guided through divine message, he reached and started his ministry in Mumbai during October 1993 and served as the lead pastor at Andheri AG church in Mumbai since 1994 until 2000. He pioneered in establishment of Mira Road AG Church.
He is married to Ms. Anita and blessed with two children, Aksah and Abel.
